“A life lived in fear is a life half-lived”

Phobias are very distressing and can grip on very tightly!  Most people with phobias know that their particular problem has been around for years and has taken over their life.  They will avoid situations or change their lives in order that they are “protected” from their worst nightmare.  They will make excuses to avoid that situation at all costs, and their particular phobia will be on their mind usually from the minute they wake up in the morning until they go to sleep at night.

Some people with a real, deep seated phobia, will spend their whole lives adapting to living with the phobia, because in some way they are also scared of actually being without it.  Do you have a particular phobia, and feel that no-one understands?  I am not talking of someone saying “oh I don’t particularly like spiders” – that is not a phobia.  If you have a real phobia you will understand.  You may have spent your life trying all different ways to conquer this, all to no avail.  As hypnotherapists, we are usually the last resort for these people, and I have even known people who have become so despondent, they have considered ending their own lives, to be free of this “thing” that plagues their life.

It can create not only huge amounts of tension and stress on the person, it can seriously affect their relationships with other people.  If their nearest and dearest do not have any particular phobia, they will tell the person “afflicted” to “shake themselves out of it!”.  People faced with their phobia can easily feel extremely anxious and may succumb to panic attacks, sweating, shortness of breath, chest pains, because they can see no way out of their situation.

Phobias are usually manifestation of deep seated emotions from experiences which may have taken place earlier in childhood, and hypnoanalysis is a very safe and efficient way of digging out and dealing with these phobias FOR GOOD.  Some therapies deal with the elimination of phobias by desensitization, which can be extremely lengthy and upsetting.  Hypnoanalysis is the most gentle and effective way of dealing with these difficulties once and for all.

There are other fears which, whilst not actually real phobias, can also be restricting, for instance, fear of flying, driving, dentist, spiders, etc., are usually easily dealt with.  Please read my therapies page for a more detailed explanation of the therapy that would be suitable for your particular difficulty.

Please be assured that you are not going “mad”, and certainly will not be judged for having any kind of phobia, as it is more common than you may think.  In the initial consultation, we can talk about your particular problem, and I will not do anything in the therapy which will make you uncomfortable in any way.  I do not make you “face your fear”.  Subconsciously you will be able to bring the original experience to the surface, look at it and understand it, and dissolve the need to keep hold of your phobia.

Sometimes it can be with you for years, others seem to “pop up” apparently without warning or reason.  Analytical therapy can help to release those bottled up emotions and let you live your life again.

Analytical therapy is the best therapy for this type of problem, and is very effective and people usually find that it resolves other “indirect” issues that they had as well!  However, with short term fears, such as fear of flying etc., suggestion therapy is the best method in that instance, particularly where there may be a restriction as to time, etc.

I have a whole list of the names of phobias, from things like emetophobia (fear of being sick), and claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces), to dendrophobia (fear of trees!), So I can prove that you are not the only person with this particular problem, and IT CAN BE SOLVED.

Have a look at my FAQ page to see what JULIET said about her therapy for her emetophobia.

Again, please feel free to phone me or email me for some initial reassurance.
